2018考研英语已落下帷幕，今年英一考题的传统阅读部分在选项设计方面难度略有增加。
阅读理解A部分试题主要是考查考生对英语词汇、短语、句型等习惯表达方式，尤其是对出现在篇章中的语言知识和语言技能的掌握情况。考研英语考试作为一种学术类英语考试，要求考生能够读懂政治、经济、文化、历史、社会、等各种学术类文献。学术类文献作为严肃性文章，因为其语言表达的严谨、准确，其文章以长难句为主。和历年真题一样，今年阅读理解中也包含各类从句。例如在Text4中有这些典型复合句：
（1） Fundamentally，the USPS is in a historic squeeze between technological change that has permanently decreased demand for its bread-and-butter product，first-class mail，and a regulatory structure that denies management the flexibility to adjust its operations to the new reality。
解析：本句是一个包括两个定语从句的复合句，划线部分是句子主干。定语从句that has permanently decreased demand for its bread-and-butter product，first-class mail，and a regulatory structure修饰先行词technological change。关系代词that在从句中做主语。定语从句that denies management the flexibility to adjust its operations to the new reality修饰先行词a regulatory structure，其先行词that在从句中做主语。
译文：从根本上说，美国邮政管理局目前处于一种技术变革的历史困境之中。这种技术变革已经永久性地降低了它的拳头产品（一类邮件）和他的调节结构的需求。这种调节结构使得管理层没有根据最新现实调节操作的灵活性。
（2）And interest groups ranging from postal unions to greeting-card makers exert self-interested pressure on the USPS’s ultimate overseer---Congress----insisting that whatever else happens to the Postal Service，aspects of the status quo they depend on get protected。
解析：划线部分为本句主句。Interest groups为句子主语，其后的ranging引导现在分词短语作后置定语修饰interest groups。Congress作ultimate overseer的同位语，破折号后的insisting为分词短语作伴随状语，其后that引导宾语从句，宾语从句中whatever引导让步状语从句，主句为，aspects of the status quo they depend on get protected，在其中 they depend on 为省略了关系代词的定语从句，修饰先行词the status quo。

（3）Legislation is moving through the House that would save USPS an estimated $28.6 billion over five years，which could help pay for new vehicles，among other survival measures。
解析：划线句子为本句主干。其后的that引导定语从句修饰先行词legislation， which引导非限定性定语从句指代逗号前的内容。
译文：在五年内为美国邮政管理局节省286亿美元的法律正在众议院通过。这将可以帮助支付新的交通工具等其他幸存措施的费用。
（4）The latter step would largely offset the financial burden of annually pre-funding retiree health care，thus addressing a long-standing complaint by the USPS and its unions。
解析：划线部分为本句主干，介词短语of annually pre-funding retiree health care作后置定语修饰burden。现在分词短语thus addressing作结果状语。
译文：之后的步骤在很大程度上会抵消退休人员的年度医疗护理预支费用，这会解决美国邮政管理局和其工会长期的抱怨。
（5） If it clears the House，this measure would still have to get through the Senate---where someone is bound to point out that it amounts to the bare， bare minimum necessary to keep the Postal Service afloat，not comprehensive reform。
解析：划线部分为本句主干。if引导条件状语从句。破折号后面where引导定语从句修饰the Senate。其后的that引导宾语从句。
译文：如果该措施在众议院通过，它仍然还需要获得参议院的通过。在参议院有人必须指出该措施是使得邮政管理局得以生存的最低必要，而不是综合性的改革。
